Discovering the How to process

Restoration process

After finding the flat markers discussed in Our Story,  my next step was educating myself on how to clean and restore the Veteran headstones and markers.  I did a lot of research to make sure I was doing the right process to be certain I didn't do any harm to the stones while cleaning them.

first thought

My first thought was to use bleach for cleaning but I quickly learned that bleach is NOT RECOMMENDED.

Bleach will get into the pores of the stone and the salt deposits will crystalize and deteriorate the stone over time.

Other cautions

1. Do not use Acid based cleaners

2. No Pressure Washing

3. No metal or abrasive tools
